    Conducting Cultural Risk Assessments for Organizational Belonging

    Leadership often is measured by results, but true leadership also is experienced through moments that go unnoticed: the first welcome, the tone of introductions and the cultural assumptions embedded in everyday interactions. This interactive session invites attendees to consider how leadership behaviors during onboarding and early team integration can significantly influence confidence, performance and long-term retention — especially for professionals from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Participants will leave with a simple tool for conducting a cultural risk assessment within their own organizations, and a renewed understanding that inclusion is not a statement — it’s a behavior.

    With my colleague Anna Grace Usery, co-presented to Center for Nonprofit Excellence of Middle TN members about how to find, hire and mentor student interns. The talk covered what students seek to accomplish in internships, how to write a strong internship announcement that resonates with mission and values, and how to connect with universities across middle Tennessee for internship partnerships. Two former Belmont University | Department of Public Relations students—Stephanie Freda and Jenna Urbon shared their internship experiences.

    Led workshop to  guide future tech leaders in distinguishing between visibility and value, encouraging them to develop and defend the originality of their ideas with clarity and conviction. Reinforced communication confidence and the importance of public speaking. Shared insights on how to elevate presence to equip participants with practical tools to harness their voices, articulate their values and present their tech ideas with intention and purpose.
